Lonicera japonica Thunb. (Caprifoliaceae family), a valuable traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine, is famous for its effective components and widespread pharmacological actions. This special plant is native to East Asia and can be easily grown all over the world. Due to its efficient medical functions and beautiful flowers, L. japonica is welcomed in the country of China, Korea and Japan, but is controlled in the region of North America and New Zealand because of its invasiveness to ecology. Modern researches have demonstrated that L. japonica have various function of anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor, anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic and hepatoprotective. The value of L. japonica is not only in pharmacology, but involves in healthy beverages, food, and cosmetics. The floral buds and flowers of L. japonica are the ingredient of traditional Chinese medicine, while the stems and leaves are in Japanese medicine .

To better mining the gene function of L. japonica, we processed 77 transcriptomic data of L. japonica to construct gene co-expression network, functional modules and and then annotated genes of L. japonica by aligning against protein sequences from public databases. And we established the user-friendly gene functional database, named LjaFGD and then co-expression network and annotations are displayed in our database. In addition, we introduced GSEA, Motif analysis, Blast, Heatmap analysis tools and Jbrowser in the database, which provided rich resources and analysis method for the research of gene function.
