Systems and Synthetic Biology Lab at Texas A&M University Seeking CSC Scholarship-Sponsored Students

A systems and synthetic biology lab at Texas A&M University is seeking students with CSC scholarship or other supports to join us. We will provide tuition and other matching funds. The lab is equipped with latest proteomics, transcriptomics and genomics set-up and expertise. We are an interdisciplinary research group consisting of 18 researchers with background ranging from mathematical modeling, plant biology, microbiology, biochemistry to analytical chemistry. All graduate students will be trained with multidisciplinary background including both computational and experimental skills. According to the past experience, the strong training and background enables the students and postdocs to further develop their career at a different level. The lab currently focuses on three major research directions including plant systems biology for gene discovery, systems biology-guided synthetic design of biomass and lignin bioconversion processes, as well as synthetic design of autotrophic hydrocarbon production systems for fuels, chemicals and drug precursors. The lab is supported with ample funding from different agencies, including the cutting-edge DOE ARPA E projects. We are seeking graduate students with external supports on plant biology, microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics or any other relevant disciplines.
